Meditation is a healthy way to deal with stress. However, people who meditate have trouble finding the time and place to practice meditation. People who don’t meditate have never tried it because it’s inconvenient and strange. By creating an environment that allows for accessible meditation, people will be able to alleviate their stress more easily. Lotus will also allow people who have never tried meditation to see if they like it, and hopefully continue.
Lotus can also easily be stored away so it will not take up space in offices, studios and other workplaces. Lotus seeks to appeal to all the senses (touch, sight, smell, hearing) to create a stress relief product that appeals to more than just one aspect of a person’s being.
The purpose of the project is to encourage more users to try meditation, since just 20 minutes of meditation per day has overwhelming health benefits. Lotus is a system that offers a mobile app in addition to a physical product, leaving it up to the user to decide what fits her preferences best. The simple app allows a user to define how long they want their meditation session to be and what type, making the meditation experience customisable to the user and their busy schedule.
